Spiced
Green Tea Lime Cooler
This
beverage was created for the Ready Set Cook Game RCS 2018 of my
favourite cooking community.
Main
ingredient:
Green
tea!
This
recipe just popped into my mind when I read the ingredient list. Not
a huge fan of cold tea beverages, but all of a sudden I knew I wanted
this... And it turned out really delicious, even though the colour is a bit strange because of the evaporated cane juice!
Feel
free to adjust the spices to your taste.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of cold green tea (I used gunpowder)
- Juice of 1 1/2 limes
- 1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
- 1/8 (or less, to taste) teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar (evaporated cane juice, or jaggery)
- 1 Slice of lime (garnish)
Preparation:
- Brew green tea and let cool completely, if you want it really cold, let it stand in the fridge overnight or for a couple of hours.
- Put 2 teaspoons of brown sugar into a tall glass.
- Combine cold tea, lime juice and spices, stir well.
- Pour over brown sugar.
- Serve with a slice of lime.Enjoy!
Made for the RSC game at the FF&F cooking site - Most know I've become a coffee addict since moving to Iceland, but iced sweet tea was my beverage of choice when I lived in the heat of Dallas. I doubled your recipe, made it as written & tasted it ice-cold from the fridge. It was a tiny bit tart for me, but 1 more tsp of brown sugar fixed what is a matter of pers preference. Loved the spicing! There is a residue from it, but I stirred it in w/ea lovely slurp & it disappears. Lovely beverage, Mia. Enjoyed it very much. Thx for sharing it for RSC. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for trying my recipe MP! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it :-)
DeleteI tried this tea today. I sure liked the zing of the ginger. I thought for sure the lime might be too much, but the ginger helped with that. I, too, with the late twissis, like mine sweet. I like good old fashioned sweet tea from the south. This was a fun thing to try and the recipe can be sweetened to taste and still have that zing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for trying this recipe! I don't have a sweet tooth myself, so there has to be the chance for others to up the sweetness LOL Glad you could adjust it to your taste!
